Bamboo Toothbrush and Shaving Kit
I recently made some great bamboo swaps for the bathroom.
I swapped my old plastic toothbrush with a bamboo one from Bambooi. My electronic Philips toothbrush had just died so it was perfect timing. The bamboo toothbrush has a robust head with soft bristles made from bamboo charcoal fibre. It’s great for sensitive teeth, which is ideal for me.
The only caveat is that I wore the toothbrush out in less than two months. This is probably due to the fact that they were soft bristles and I’ve been doing extra cleaning to prepare for a dentist appointment. But with Bambooi’s special offer of £1 a toothbrush, it was pretty cheap to order some new ones.
I bought my toothbrush as part of a bamboo bundle including a shaving brush and razor for my Dad.
According to him, they look and feel better than conventional plastic razors. The shaving brush bristles are soft and easily spread shaving foam across your face. The razor is good quality and has a reusable razor handle, with four extra blades.
Bambooi also offer a razor blade recycling scheme. If you send your old razor blades back in the packaging, you receive 50 Bambooi points for every blade, which can be redeemed against coupons.
Why buy bamboo products?
Bamboo products make great eco swaps for some of our everyday plastic products. They’re anti-fungal and anti-bacterial due to a substance called bamboo kun. This prevents bacteria and microbes growing and makes it the perfect plant for hygienic products such as toothbrushes and shaving kits.
Why is bamboo more sustainable than plastic?
Bamboo plants are fast growing, renewable, absorb large amounts of CO2 and produce more oxygen than other plants. Bamboo products are also 100% biodegradable, and recyclable, as long as they haven’t been chemically treated. They have a long lifespan and under proper care you can reuse them over and over again without deterioration. This is hugely beneficial for the environment.
