UpCircle Face Moisturiser & Serum

By: Henrietta Mackenzie

I recently tried some gorgeous new vegan face products gifted by the Re-Store, a UK based vegan friendly zero waste shop.

UpCircle Face Moisturiser

It’s made with the fine powder of discarded argan shells. These aren’t shells you find on the beach, but shells from inside the argan fruit which grow on trees found almost exclusively in Southern Morocco. The argan shell powder is also combined with skin-soothing cocoa butter, aloe vera and blood orange.

UpCircle Face Serum

It’s made with coffee oil from repurposed grounds and with nourishing jojoba, sea buckthorn and rosehip oils.

What I thought

The Face Moisturiser was quite light and fast absorbing. It left my skin feeling nourished and looking brighter. I have combination skin so it was great for me, but I imagine if you have very dry skin, you might need something a bit heavier.

You can also use it in the morning and at night which is good news. Makes my skin routine a bit simpler.

I also love the fact that it comes in a glass jar with an aluminium lid which is fully recyclable and no plastic.

The Face Serum was the standout product for me. It had a wonderful rich coffee aroma, which smelt great, especially in the morning. I have to admit I’ve never used serum on my face before, but it was pretty easy. I applied a few drops to the palm of my hand and then massaged it into my face after using the face moisturiser.

It felt so rich and nourishing. As the serum is 100% oil based, it takes longer to be absorbed into the skin. Apparently it locks in hydration provided by the moisturiser by forming a protective seal over your skin.

It’s also extremely versatile and can double up as a hair or beard oil (for your partner or husband) that is.

The packaging is pretty eco-friendly. The bottle is made from frosted glass. And while the pipette is made from glass, plastic and rubber, you can buy a plastic free aluminium cap refill option. So the pipette can be reused.

I’ve tried a lot of face products before, but this brand is outstanding.

Face moisturiser is £18.00 and the face serum is £14.99 from Re-store
